UsedToBeNew is an international band of three jazz musicians who use their acoustic
electronic live set gives Fusion a new identity.
UsedToBeNew is an Amsterdam based power trio, drawing its influences from early rock n roll as well
as Jazz and blues music. Due to its unconventional instrumentation and experimentation in musical
functionality, the band has the ability to reach a broad pallet of sounds that resonate with today`s
world of music making. Using mostly the electric wind instrument (EWI) as a lead instrument and
additional live keys played by the drummer to create a naive minimalism almost as a humoristic
counterpoint.
The Band forms the house band for several subcultural cabaret editions at the mezrab Amsterdam:
creating live soundtrack for many storytellers and comedians .
The debut album “popular emotions” came out in 2018. On 20 th November they release their second
Album “check my independence”. The event will be hosted by Margo van der Linde, performing
artist, spoken word artist, host, DAS graduate and the band long-time collaborator.
